Job description

Job Responsibilities

The role involves a variety of critical tasks aimed at providing exceptional care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias:

  • Conduct thorough electrophysiologic assessments and studies for patients experiencing cardiac arrhythmias.
  • Deliver preoperative and postoperative care for individuals undergoing electrophysiological interventions.
  • Execute advanced electrophysiology techniques, such as catheter ablation, pacemaker and defibrillator placements, and device management.
  • Evaluate patients to determine their eligibility for different electrophysiologic treatments, offering recommendations grounded in evidence-based practices.
  • Manage and assess patients in both outpatient and inpatient environments who present with intricate arrhythmias and related cardiovascular issues.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests including electrocardiograms (ECG), Holter monitors, and event monitors.
  • Create and implement personalized treatment strategies for patients with cardiac arrhythmias.
  • Collaborate with fellow cardiology team members and healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Engage in the education and training of medical students, residents, fellows, and nursing staff regarding cardiac electrophysiologic disorders.
  • Commit to ongoing professional growth by staying updated on the latest advancements in electrophysiology through participation in professional organizations, conferences, and educational events.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and committees as required by the department and facility.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, procedures, and treatment plans in compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of clinical protocols and standards within the electrophysiology service.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
  • Board certified or eligible in electrophysiology.
  • Possession of a Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited medical or osteopathic institution recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • A current, unrestricted medical or surgical license to practice in any U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth, including the District of Columbia.
Working Conditions

The work schedule typically runs from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with the expectation of call coverage and weekend rounding as necessary. Alternate schedules may be arranged to accommodate organizational needs.
