GFT is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector to join our Construction Services team in St. Louis, MO!

What you’ll be challenged to do:


This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced candidate with a minimum of 10 years' professional experience to join a collaborative team environment. The role highlights a customer-focused mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional quality and results on every project. This role inspects and oversees construction work to ensure that results, procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. This role will serve as a daily point of contact with clients and contractors, and manage all aspects of a project including construction observations, material testing and maintaining documentation.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
  • Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
  • Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed, and materials used conform to specifications.
  • Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing.
  • Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation.
  • Interpret plans and specifications for Contractor and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
  • Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods, develop pay estimates and change orders.
  • Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
  • Monitor several types of work activity, however not simultaneously.
  • Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance
  • Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • High school diploma.
  • 10+ years progressive experience in transportation engineering and inspection of bridge and/or highway structures on state MODOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects.
  • A safety-first mindset.
  • Strong writing, listening and communication skills.
What we prefer you bring: 
  • ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state MODOT certification are recommended, but not required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts.
  • Ability and desire to lead.
Compensation:
The hourly range for this role is $30.00 - $41.00 per/hour. The hourly range is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
