About Darien Animal Clinic

We’re an independent, full-service small-animal practice located in Darien, Illinois — 30 minutes west of Chicago. For over 35 years we’ve held AAHA accreditation, a standard fewer than 15% of practices in North America achieve. We have a fabulous, close-knit team, and we genuinely care about our clients and patients.

Our hospital is fully computerized and paperless, with advanced diagnostics including IDEXX digital and dental radiography, portable ultrasound, advanced surgical monitoring, a Class IV DoctorVet therapy laser, and a complete IDEXX VetLab Station — ProCyte Dx, Catalyst Dx, Catalyst One, inVue Dx Cellular Analyzer, SNAPshot Dx, and SediVue Dx. Our doctors are supported by a high 3.5:1 support-staff-to-doctor ratio , with experienced technicians at your side at all times, and we partner closely with local emergency and referral specialty clinics.

The Opportunity

This role is open to veterinarians at every stage of their career. New graduates are warmly welcomed — you’ll receive structured mentorship and the time to build your clinical confidence. Experienced veterinarians will find autonomy, a loyal client base, and a thriving caseload. Every doctor here is given the freedom to explore their own style of practice and reach their full potential.

What You’ll Do

• Provide preventive and wellness care, including exams, vaccinations, and client education

• Diagnose and treat medical conditions using our in-house IDEXX diagnostics and laboratory

• Perform routine surgeries (spays/neuters, soft tissue) and dental procedures

• Develop treatment plans and communicate them clearly and compassionately to clients

• Partner with — and help mentor — our experienced technician and support team

• Maintain accurate, timely records in our fully computerized, paperless practice

What We’re Looking For

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) from an AVMA-accredited program

• Active Illinois veterinary license — or eligibility to obtain one before your start date

• DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain

• New graduates are welcome; experienced DVMs are equally encouraged to apply

• Proficiency or interest in surgery and dentistry is a plus

• Strong communication skills and a genuine, team-first approach to patient and client care

Compensation & Benefits

We reward our team with a competitive, transparent package:

• Guaranteed base salary starting at $140,000+ , plus a production percentage — commensurate with experience

• Sign-on bonus

• Generous Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) health-insurance contribution

• Employer-matched SIMPLE retirement plan

• Paid vacation and holidays

• Paid continuing-education programs

• AVMA, ISVMA, and CVMA dues paid — plus DEA registration and Low Stress Handling certification

Schedule & Work-Life Balance

No on-call. No overnights. After-hours emergencies are handled by the local emergency clinics we partner with, so your time off is truly yours. We offer flexible scheduling with rotating Saturdays. We want Darien Animal Clinic to be a place where you can build a long, sustainable, and rewarding career.

How to Apply

We’d love to hear from you. Email your resume and cover letter to Steve Morris, CVPM, CVBL , or call. Confidential inquiries are always welcome.
