Description

HR Manager     

Aftermath Services is seeking an experienced, people-centered HR Manager for team in Aurora, IL. This full-time, on-site role leads day-to-day HR for a ~300-person, multi-state workforce, reporting to the Chief Legal Counsel and supervising the Payroll and Benefits Specialist. You'll own payroll and benefits and recruiting oversight - including serving as hands-on backup - plus employee relations, multi-state compliance. If that's you, we'd love to hear from you.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $125,000 | Target: ~$110,000


Location

Aurora, IL (On-site, Monday-Friday)


Key Responsibilities

? Serve as the primary HR contact for employee relations - investigations and manager guidance across all locations.

? Ensure multi-state employment law compliance across 40+ states, including leave laws, wage and hour regulations, and OSHA.

? Oversee payroll and benefits functions run by the Payroll and Benefits Specialist; serve as backup for payroll execution and open enrollment.

? Manage benefits vendor relationships and lead annual renewal negotiations.

? Review HSA/FSA audits, and ACA reporting.

? Lead HR operations, HRIS administration, and HR reporting and analytics.

? Own the annual HR calendar; support full-cycle recruiting and a best-in-class onboarding experience.

? Directly supervise and develop the Payroll and Benefits Specialist and Recruiter; partner with the Chief Legal Counsel on policy, culture, and strategic HR initiatives.


Qualifications

? 5+ years of progressive HR experience with depth in ER, multi-state compliance, payroll, and benefits.

? Hands-on payroll and benefits administration experience required - must be capable of direct execution as backup.

? Proven investigation and ER experience required.

? Strong knowledge of federal and state employment law (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, OSHA).

? Paylocity or comparable HRIS experience strongly preferred.

? Bachelor's degree in HR or related field preferred (or equivalent experience); PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
