Title: Family Assistant & Household Manager

Location: Aledo, TX 76008

Employment Type: Full-time (30-35 hours per week)

Schedule: Weekday afternoon hours (M-F), either 12:30 PM - 6:30 PM or 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Proposed Start Date: Late July/Early August

Compensation: $28-33/hour based on experience

Role Priorities: 60-70% Household Management / 15-20% Meal Prep / 15-20% Transportation & Logistics / 10-15% Vendor & Admin

Requirements:

  • Able to maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and a clean driving record
  • Up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis A/B, COVID-19, and annual influenza), subject to applicable legal accommodations
  • Comfortable working in a home with dogs and cats
  • CPR and First Aid certified (or willingness to become certified)

About Our Family:

We are an active family of four with two working parents, one child away at college, a busy, sports-loving 8th grader, a calm senior dog, and a cat. While our household thrives on routine, we also need to remain flexible, especially during the school year when athletics fill our afternoons and evenings.

As two parents working full-time in the office with demanding careers, we are also balancing work travel, club baseball schedules, after-school sports, managing our home, and being present parents to our two children. We are lucky to have had a great house manager and nanny working alongside our family for several years. She is transitioning to her next venture, and we are excited to take this as an opportunity to reassess what we need as our school-aged son gets older and life continues to get more full.

We value clear communication, proactive thinking, and the ability to keep things running smoothly without constant direction. We appreciate support that allows us to focus on work and quality family time. We are ready to work with a candidate we can truly trust to step in seamlessly when competing priorities arise and proactively reduce the mental and logistical load.

Who We're Looking For

You are a proactive thinker who anticipates what needs to be done and takes initiative. You're comfortable managing a busy teenager's schedule, connecting with him naturally, and fostering a balance of support and independence. Organized, reliable, and communicative, you have the energy and personality to keep up with an active household. You bring a strong moral compass, a solutions-oriented mindset, and the flexibility to pivot quickly when plans change. You are equally confident coordinating with vendors, prepping meals, managing household logistics, and providing a steady, engaging presence in the home.

Please note: Success in this role means that the household runs smoothly, minimal direction is required, and includes proactive operations and seamless logistics. This role is NOT: a hands-on nanny role, childcare-focused or task-based.

Key Responsibilities:

Family Support & Child Assistance

  • Provide transportation for 8th grader (pick-ups and drop-offs for school, sports, activities, etc.)
  • Supervise and drive to age-appropriate outings with friends
  • Prepare school snacks and lunches
  • Manage kid-related errands and appointments

Household Management & Organization

  • Own and continuously improve household organization systems
  • Own daily household reset and readiness: load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, declutter countertops, vacuum high-traffic areas (e.g. kitchen floor), and pick up in the TV room
  • Prepare home for biweekly cleaning service
  • Conduct seasonal swaps for clothing and dcor
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Assistance with birthday parties
  • Prep for weekend baseball tournaments (clean uniforms, pack gear and snacks, etc.)
  • Help unpacking & organizing after baseball tournament travel
  • Proactively manage and anticipate needs based on the family Skylight calendar

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Coordinate with cleaner for occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards)
  • Refresh and maintain garage
  • Clean air purifier
  • Manage organizational projects (inside/outside fridges, freezer, gear) as requested

Inventory Management & Errands

  • Restock pantry/fridge/household supplies
  • Manage running lists for household orders and subscriptions and communicate with family when something needs to be purchased/ordered (Amazon, Costco, etc.)
  • Independently manage and execute errands without requiring direction, including: returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping/wrapping
  • Mail and package handling, including sorting junk mail
  • Breakdown boxes

Meal Planning & Prep

  • Plan and prep 2-3 healthy dinners per week
  • Prep healthy snacks for school and sports
  • Manage supply of snacks and items for school lunches
  • Shop for groceries and proactively refill items
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Own household laundry systems: wash/fold/organize (kids will put their laundry away)
  • Hang laundry to dry
  • Ironing/steaming and special garment care
  • Linen rotation (every other week)
  • Maintain tidy and well stocked laundry areas
Pet Care
  • Feed dog as needed
  • Fill cat feeder
  • Manage cat litter: empty litter tray weekly and vacuum cat litter from floor
  • Administer monthly preventative medications for dog
  • Maintain pet supplies, make sure items are stocked

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Serve as on-site point of contact for cleaners/contractors/landscapers
  • Coordinate with family for vendor payments
  • Proactively identify, research, and coordinate home maintenance and repairs
  • Coordinate with contractors for seasonal outdoor decor
  • Arrange exterminators and be on site during service
  • Manage outdoor spaces (sweep patios, water flowers, sweep/skim pool)
  • Ad hoc vehicle maintenance, as needed
