Job description

About Cedar Gate Technologies
Cedar Gate Technologies, an IQVIA business, enables payers, providers, employers, and service administrators to excel at value-based care with a unified technology and services platform delivering analytics, care, and payment technology on a single data management foundation. At Cedar Gate, you'll be part of a collaborative, innovative environment where great ideas thrive. We invest deeply in our people through ongoing training, comprehensive benefits, and a strong culture of teamwork, offering the chance to grow your skills while contributing to high impact initiatives for some of the world's most dynamic companies.
Position Summary
Cedar Gate Technologies, an IQVIA business, is seeking a SQL Server Architect to serve as the technical authority for a mission-critical healthcare SaaS platform used by U. S. healthcare organizations. This role is intended for senior-level SQL Server professionals who have significant experience supporting large-scale production environments and complex T-SQL codebases where substantial business logic resides within the database layer.
As a Senior SQL Server Architect, you will be responsible for the design, performance, stability, and ongoing evolution of a mature healthcare technology platform that processes high volumes of transactional data and supports critical client operations. You will work closely with software developers, quality engineers, and business stakeholders to maintain and enhance a large SQL Server codebase while helping shape future architectural direction.
This is not a traditional SQL Developer, Reporting Analyst, ETL Developer, or Database Administrator role. Candidates who have not worked extensively with enterprise-scale SQL Server applications, complex stored procedure-driven business logic, and production software platforms may not find this position aligned with their experience.
You'll be joining a team responsible for a mature healthcare SaaS platform where SQL Server plays a central role in application functionality and business processing. This position is best suited for an architect-level SQL Server professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving large production systems, and influencing the future direction of healthcare technology solutions.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical owner and subject matter expert for a large-scale SQL Server environment supporting a healthcare SaaS application.
  • Analyze, maintain, and enhance complex T-SQL stored procedures, functions, views, and database objects containing critical business and healthcare workflow logic.
  • Develop architectural recommendations and detailed technical designs that improve scalability, performance, maintainability, and reliability.
  • Partner closely with Software Development, Product, Delivery, and Quality Assurance teams to support ongoing application enhancements and production operations.
  • Perform code reviews and provide guidance on database design, coding standards, and SQL Server development best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and database performance issues using SQL Server profiling, monitoring, and diagnostic tools.
  • Evaluate business and product requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Research emerging technologies and provide recommendations regarding platform improvements and modernization opportunities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, development standards, and knowledge-base content.
  • Drive continuous improvement of database architecture, engineering processes, and development practices.
  • Effectively communicate technical designs, recommendations, and risks to internal stakeholders, leadership, and clients.

Job Location
Prefer Houston, TX - Hybrid or Greenwich, CT - Hybrid; and
Will also consider those within the United States - Remote
Work Arrangement
Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 remote)
U.S. residents only; work must be performed within the United States.
Experience / Qualifications
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience supporting SQL Server in enterprise production environments.
  • Expert-level experience working within large, complex T-SQL codebases where business-critical functionality is implemented through stored procedures and database objects.
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server architecture, query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Extensive experience debugging, troubleshooting, and supporting business-critical SQL Server applications.
  • Hands-on experience using SQL Server monitoring, profiling, and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate existing database architectures and develop scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
  • Ability to read and understand application code written in C# or VB.NET to support troubleshooting and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven experience conducting code reviews and establishing database development standards and best practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to participate in technical discussions with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting healthcare technology platforms, healthcare SaaS applications, payer organizations, payment integrity solutions, claims processing systems, value-based care platforms, or revenue cycle solutions is highly preferred.
  • Experience serving as the lead database architect or primary database technical owner for a commercial software product is considered a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data models, healthcare operational workflows, and high-volume transactional processing systems is desirable.
  • Experience modernizing legacy SQL Server applications and reducing technical debt within mature platforms would be an asset.
  • To be eligible for this position, you must reside in the same country where the job is located.
