Job description

We are recruiting for a Data Analyst to join our team in Fresno, CA. This position is fully in-person and reports to our office in Fresno full-time. 

The Data Analyst position is a non-exempt position that plays a critical role in supporting United Health Centers (UHC) by delivering accurate, timely, and actionable data across operational, financial, billing, and clinical domains. This position blends traditional data analysis responsibilities with foundational data engineering tasks, including data pipeline development, SQL optimization, and system integration.


PERFORMANCE AREA 1: Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to support clinical, operational, and financial decision-making.
  • Respond to data requests using PowerBI or custom SQL queries when necessary.
  • Validate and document data accuracy before report delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Provide end-user support for self-service reporting platforms and educate staff on data interpretation.
  • Maintain a repository of SQL scripts, report inventories, PowerBI models and documentation for repeatable use.

PERFORMANCE AREA 2: Data Engineering & Integration

  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data from systems such as athenaOne, athenaOne Dental, and other healthcare platforms.
  • Support internal data mapping and integration efforts for new and existing implementations.
  • Optimize SQL queries and database performance to improve report generation and data accessibility.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of data models and schemas for reporting databases.
  • Interface with external systems and APIs to support data interoperability and reporting needs.

PERFORMANCE AREA 3: Technical Support & Collaboration

  • Field incoming report requests via phone or IT Support Structure (ITSS) tickets.
  • Track and document all report requests, including specifications, delivery format, and timelines.
  • Communicate proactively with end users regarding delays, changes, or validation timelines.
  • Conduct follow-ups to ensure reports remain relevant and up-to-date.
  • Contribute to team knowledge by creating help sheets, documentation, and training materials.

PERFORMANCE AREA 4: General Corporate Expectations

  • Attends and actively participates in all meetings (e.g., department meetings, program meetings, employee staff meetings) and other activities as required or assigned.
  • Attends workshops/seminars as necessary to increase skills and knowledge to provide effective care, treatment, and/or leadership.
  • Supports the overall needs of the health center by working flexible or extended hours when necessary.
  • Supports the needs of the health center by traveling to other health centers when needs dictate the need for personnel.
  • Demonstrates awareness of, and compliance with, organizational mission and objective of UHC to provide health care access and support services for all members of the community.
  • Supports their own staff development by completing the required hours of continuing education each year.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally either verbally or in writing.
  • Maintains confidentiality and respect for information regarding patients and other team members; abides by UHC Rules of Confidentiality and general HIPAA regulations regarding privacy.
  • Displays a positive, professional and respectful demeanor at all times toward employees, peers, professional contacts, and patients served, maintaining a professional appearance and positive image for the health centers.
  • Contributes to the team by promoting positive staff interaction, maintains open communication with other programs/departments.

EDUCATION

  • Degree in Data Science, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent experience.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Must obtain and maintain vendor and industry certifications as directed.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with athenaOne and athenaOne Dental workflows and reporting tools desired
  • Familiarity with HRSA reporting requirements for FQHCs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform solutions such as PowerBI and PowerAutomate desired
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL desired
  • Experience in healthcare operations or financial reporting desired

SKILLS

  • Proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and logic skills.

The hourly wage range that UHC reasonably expects to pay for the position upon hire starts at $33.82 an hour. Our salaries are dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
