DESCRIPTION
The Position
We are now hiring full-time Grocery Stockers to join our team of energetic Grocery professionals.
Responsibilities
  • With customers, sell our products and services in an informative, friendly and enthusiastic manner. Share knowledge of products and menu suggestions with customers during conversation.
  • Stock shelves quickly, efficiently, accurately and neatly.
  • Face shelves often during work.
  • Clean, dust, wipe down as necessary according to daily task list.
  • Rotate product every time shelves are filled.
  • Communicate throughout the work shift with supervisors to assure complete flow of information.
  • Break down pallet deliveries using best practices to sort department goods and deliver to the sales floor with a minimum of "touches."
  • Date back stock of bulk container clearly.
  • Rotate stock on back stock shelves every time product is moved to ensure freshness.
  • Maintain dairy cooler in a neat, safe fashion that assures access to oldest product first.
  • Maintain walk-in freezer so that access for all departments is safe, and product is rotated every time it is moved.
  • Price sale items or other merchandise that requires price tags with consistency and neatness.
  • Follow daily and weekly cleaning regimens with consistency and thoroughness to maintain a clean, hygienic and sanitary shopping environment.
  • Empty trash cans as needed.
  • Clean spills when necessary, following special oil spill cleaning procedures when necessary.
  • Follow Canyon Market recycling and compost guidelines, especially regarding flattening of cardboard to maintain a safe, neat and orderly loading area.
  • Follow write-off procedures as detailed by the buyers.
  • Follow dating and par sheet instructions for all perishable items.
  • Fill in logs, record-keeping forms and all department recording protocols promptly and accurately.

Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to communicate with customers who speak only English.
  • Personable, outgoing and enthusiastic about interacting with diverse guests.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a sense of urgency while maintaining great customer service.
  • A sense of humor and the ability to find fulfillment in engaging with guests and staff.
  • Must be able to regularly and safely lift heavy objects greater than 40 pounds unassisted.
  • Able to stand all day while frequently bending and twisting, occasionally kneeling/squatting, and light to moderate lifting.
  • Open schedule is preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
