Position Overview:ย 
As a traveling OSP Resident, you will be responsible for overseeing fiber optic cable construction to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to engineering plans. You will also be expected to be capable of engineering routine and specific outside plant work orders, and providing field support to the outside plant workforce. You will be required to be on premises for BAU (Business as Usual) fieldwork-type engineering and staking. This position will involve taking notes and hand-drawing the routes where telecom facilities will be placed, which can be buried, underground, or aerial.ย 
In this role, you will collaborate closely with construction crews, project managers, and permitting agencies to support the successful buildout of fiber infrastructure across the U.S.
  • Overseeing upcoming Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) projects.ย 
  • Staking outside plant (OSP) projects to create hand-drawn or computer-aided design (CAD) sketches of recommended engineering plans while in the field, making notations of land conditions and other relevant structures or landmarks.ย 
  • Determining the ideal location for new above- and below-ground facilities and equipment.ย 
  • Accurately depicting new construction route opportunities on work prints/staking sheets and accurately documenting existing measurements and proposed placements.ย 
  • Supervising Outside Plant Inspectors to ensure engineering plans/specifications are being followed accordingly and accurately recording units placed each day.ย 
  • Collaborating with clients and contractors to ensure a project's success by supporting schedule coordination, workflow monitoring, and cost tracking efforts.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience in OSP Telecom Construction/Engineering and leading FTTh Inspection teams.ย 
  • Working knowledge of RUS practices and terminology is desired.ย 
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for telecom construction.ย 
  • Working knowledge of Google Earth/Maps.ย 
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat.ย 
  • Highly organized, self-starter with excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.ย 
  • Superior time management and strong attention to detail.ย 
  • Overtime is often required.ย 
  • You must drive your own vehicle and be willing to travel for extended periods.ย 
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
