Description
The City of Blue Ash is seeking qualified applicants to fill a full-time Golf Course Assistant Superintendent position. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity working under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent.

Examples of Duties
  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in planning, directing, and supervising the maintenance and daily operations of one of the region's premier golf courses.
  • Diagnose turf health, plant nutrition, and pest control needs; apply fertilizers and herbicides; maintain accurate records; and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding chemical storage, handling, and disposal.
  • Train, supervise, and mentor staff in the safe and effective operation of mowing equipment and other maintenance machinery.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by ensuring employees receive proper training and follow established safety procedures.
  • Develop, motivate, and evaluate staff through ongoing training, coaching, and mentorship opportunities that encourage professional growth and advancement.
  • Assist with prioritizing, scheduling, and assigning daily and weekly work activities while anticipating seasonal and long-term maintenance needs.
  • Assist in preparing, forecasting, and monitoring the annual operating budget.
Lead and participate in snow removal operations for the golf course and Cooper Creek Event Center, including operating plow trucks, tractors, brushes, blowers, walk-behind snow equipment, and other non-CDL snow removal equipment as needed. Snow removal responsibilities occur outside normal working hours and are performed on an as-needed basis depending on weather conditions.
Typical Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of golf course maintenance practices, including the care of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and landscape areas.
  • Knowledge of turfgrass establishment and maintenance; plant cultivation, pruning, and care; soil science; fertilizers; herbicides; pest management; and drainage systems.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with complex irrigation systems, including pumps and automatic controls. Experience with Toro GDC decoder systems or similar technology is preferred.
  • Experience calibrating, operating, and maintaining spraying and spreading equipment.
  • Working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment including loaders, tractors, aerators, utility vehicles, and commercial mowing equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods under a variety of weather conditions.
  • Required to work weekends, holidays, special events, and extended hours as operations require.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screening.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire, an Ohio Commercial Applicator License.Physical Requirements
