Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Mid-Career Civil/Geotechnical Engineer in our Boca Raton, Florida office. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations on projects involving design, permitting, and construction of civil infrastructure; building foundations; solid waste containment systems, reservoirs, dams, levees and other water containment and control structures. Typical work assignments include but are not limited to geotechnical subsurface investigation; geo-instrumentation install and monitoring; slope stability analysis; stormwater treatment, conveyance, and detention/retention design; construction quality assurance all while learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.ย

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Scoping, costing and overseeing ย geotechnical investigations;
  • Designing and specifying subsurface improvement and foundation recommendations;
  • Preparing plans, specifications and engineering design reports for performing heavy civil construction projects;
  • Performing and reviewing engineering calculations;
  • Reviewing and providing engineering evaluation of contractor submittals, shop drawings, requests for information, claims for changed conditions, etc. ;
  • Performing solid waste management facility design, permitting, and overseeing quality assurance;
  • Conducting dam, reservoir, stormwater treatment area and levee inspections;
  • Leading proposals for professional engineering and construction services; and
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil and/or geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE). (peferred)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of work experience in engineering consulting or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)ย 
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow direction and work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required after employment)ย 
  • Experience working on projects with value of $1M to $25M (preferred)
  • Prior experience working on projects lead or co-lead by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or one of Florida's many Water Management Districts (preferred)
  • Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Slope/W, and PLAXIS. (preferred)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, eBuilder. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee engineering and other technical and administrative staff (preferred)
