Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer in our Houston, TX office.  The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations on projects involving site characterization; shallow and deep foundations; retaining structures; numerical analysis of stability and deformation; geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and geohazard characterization and mitigation, while learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

  • Conducting geotechnical field investigations;
  • Performing and reviewing engineering calculations;
  • Developing, installing, and managing instrumentation and monitoring systems;
  • Developing construction documents;
  • Monitoring heavy civil construction projects;
  • Writing and reviewing engineering reports; and
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed. 

  • Bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Master's or PhD degree in geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. (preferred)

  • Prior internship or work experience in engineering consulting. (preferred)
  • Strong fundamentals in geotechnical engineering theory and practice.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, SLIDE, and PLAXIS. (preferred)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
