Job description

The candidate will be responsible for providing petrophysical support to a multi-disciplinary subsurface team under guidance of senior staff.

Some of the responsibilities of a Petrophysical Associate include:

  • Data management and QC: Perform quality control on raw well logs, i.e. Load log data, well data and other geological data to various petrophysical software.
  • Software Familiarity: Fluency in Petrophysical Software. IP preferred
  • Petrophysical Analysis: Understanding basic analysis for well logs
  • Core Data management: Basic knowledge of core acquisition techniques and Lab analysis processes.
  • Field Exposure: Visit drilling sites to observe and facilitate data acquisition processes
  • Oil Field Processes: Understanding of key oil field disciplines (Drilling/Completion etc.)
  • Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical foundations and an ability to interpret complex data sets are essential.
  • Soft Skills: Clear communication and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams are highly valued. Interface with vendors to facilitate timely & accurate data collection is required
  • Data management: Manage large multi-well open hole/ Cased hole data projects.
  • Additional duties as required.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Math, Physics, Computer Science or similar. Must have oilfield experience.  Must have technical background with strong math and computer skills. Proficiency in various analytical applications such as Spotfire and Matlab will be a plus.  Must have worked with large volumes of wireline log data.  Expert in at least one of the following: Petra, Geographix, Powerlog, Techlog, Interactive Petrophysics, Petrel, Kingdom.  Must possess skills to QC / normalize / edit log data.  Experience handling core data (QC, depth shift, load).  Basic programming skills are a plus. SQL programming is a plus but not necessary.  Experience in statistical tools like Matlab, Mathmatica, Spotfire is desirable.  Must be able to set priorities, meet deadlines, handle large volumes of data, and multi-task.

Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
