Overview
TRC is seeking a Testing & Commissioning Technician I based out of the Houston, TX office.
  • Test and maintain substation relays (electro-mechanical, solid state, and microprocessor), control systems, and voltage regulation equipment.
  • Calibrate protective relays and apply settings according to standards and operational requirements.
  • Program Load Tap Changing (LTC) and voltage regulator controllers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair substation relays and control devices in distribution substations.
  • Plan and execute testing activities efficiently, meeting schedules and maintaining service continuity.
  • Document testing procedures, results, and equipment configurations accurately.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repair of substation relaying and control schemes.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment.
  • Knowledge of three-phase power systems, power system protection and control schemes, test equipment, and related software.
  • Proficient in using test equipment, tools, and wiring; interpreting wiring and elementary diagrams; and performing basic testing and PC tasks.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and/or relevant experience in testing and commissioning.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
