What You’d Be Doing

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead the electrical engineering process for a wide variety of projects for industrial facilities. From initial design through to startup support, you will collaborate with electrical designers and a multi-disciplinary team to prepare a detailed drawing package and engineering deliverables.

  • Complete medium and low voltage electrical engineering calculations and documentation packages, plans, sections, and details for electrical design projects according to industry, client, and company standards
  • Appropriately apply and have extensive knowledge of relevant codes: NFPA 70, 70E, 30, 58, and 497, NEMA, API 500 & 540, IEEE and others as required
  • Coordinate project deliverables, deadlines, and speak to interdisciplinary needs for a given project among the engineering team
  • Collaborate with electrical designers to develop and check one-line diagrams, conduit plans, grounding plans, area classification plans, control panel layout and bills of materials, lighting plans, P&ID's, PLC & DCS wiring diagrams and motor schematics
  • Confidently speak with clients and electrical utilities on new or upgraded service installations
  • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, process, and structural engineers to identify potential conflicts and/or efficiencies with the electrical design
  • Support business development opportunities and assist in marketing efforts (proposal preparation, scope, budget, etc.)
  • Perform contractor construction submittal reviews and request for information documents and general electrical design activities for industrial facilities
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors on behalf of clients to review and approve specifications
  • Continuously seek improvement for yourself and for the department
  • Travel within the United States 15% to 20% for site investigations, design reviews, and construction support

What Makes You a Good Candidate

10+ years of experience in the completion of projects for clients in the industrial market sector including project development from concept through completion, including estimating, start-up, and commissioning

  • Relevant experience includes oil and gas, refinery, pulp and paper, or other industrial environments
  • Be comfortable working in industrial facilities and around the equipment therein
  • BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET accredited institution required
  • PE (Professional Engineer) is required
  • Strong experience with power system modeling software such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower
  • Ability to perform voltage drop, cable tray fill, cable tray sizing, conduit sizing and equipment sizing calculations
  • Working knowledge of protection devices such as power circuit breakers MCCBs, fuses, and relay protection
  • Experience estimating heavy industrial electrical engineering and construction costs
  • Demonstrated ability to excel with minimum supervision and strong desire to learn and develop knowledge and skills
  • Strong background providing a combination of both project management and engineering skills
  • Experience in mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance
  • Strong written & oral communication, writing, and presentation skills and use of tools such as Bluebeam, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams

Salary Range: $130,000 to $150,000 depending on relevant experience
