IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering New Graduate in Vancouver, WA or the Portland metro area. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow yourexpertisefrom day one. You will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to support structural systems analysis, design, and development of documents.

You will contribute across the full project life cycle, support work within project budgets, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to help meet project goals and client expectations. This team supports commercial structural work across the Pacific Northwest with strong seismic retrofit, resilience, and utility-relatedexpertise, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

What You'll Do

  • Assistin the design and analysis of structural systems using a variety of building materials, engineering software, and tools to develop designs, specifications, and calculationsin accordance withcode requirements and IMEG standards

  • Interact with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build professional relationships

  • Support the execution of consulting projects as part of a project team, including project planning and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives

  • Document design decisions and client instructions whilemonitoringproject design progress

  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions

  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and structural engineering best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG

  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and conduct yourself in an ethical and professional manner

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals

  • Engage in the full life cycle of projects from conception through construction by developing designs, preparing construction documents, reviewing construction submittals, andparticipatingin job site observations

  • Knowledge of design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structures

  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to structural mechanics and materials as it relates to structural design of buildings and other structures

  • Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural analysis and design software

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment anddemonstrateeffective team building skills

  • The team supports Pacific Northwest resilience and seismic structural work with heavy exposure to public infrastructure and utility equipmentqualification.

  • Seismic rehabilitation for schools, fire stations, and police facilities.

  • Utility and power equipment qualification, especially transformers, reactors, and substations.

  • Recent work includes Clark Public Utilities Operations Center New Data Room, Utility Company, and Redmond Fire Station 404 Seismic Rehabilitation.

State of Washington Salary Range: $71,000-$76,000per year

The range listed aboverepresentsthe base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work locationidentifiedabove at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will bedeterminedbased on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
