Senior Accountant
Compensation:

Schedule/Location: full-time onsite in New Rochelle, NY

CFS is partnering with a well‑established, fast‑growing construction engineering and services organization with operations across the U.S. and Canada. This privately held, $40M+ business segment is backed by a larger family investment fund and is experiencing rapid growth both organically and through strategic acquisitions. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team and support continued expansion.

This is a high‑visibility role reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance & Administration, offering meaningful ownership of core accounting functions and the ability to drive process improvements across the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and analytical review.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and proper account classification.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, proactively resolving discrepancies.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, monitor cash flow, and handle foreign currency (FOREX) transactions and revaluations.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, and settlements across multiple entities.
  • Support accounts payable operations and ensure adherence to internal controls.
  • Coordinate project and monthly billing, including use of Textura, working closely with Project Management.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing insights and variance analysis to leadership.
  • Act as a key liaison for external auditors, preparing schedules and supporting audit activities.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Public accounting or auditor-facing experience preferred.
  • Construction industry accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, consolidations, intercompany transactions, and FOREX accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems; familiarity with Sage 300 CRE and Textura is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, growing environment.
