Railserve is hiring an experienced and safety-focused Rail Trainer/Auditor in Decatur to support employee training, operational compliance, and safety auditing activities across Railserve operations. This is a full-time leadership role critical to developing employees, maintaining operational standards, and ensuring compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Job Description
The Rail Trainer/Auditor is responsible for developing and delivering training programs for employees involved in daily rail operations while conducting operational and safety audits to ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable regulations. This role serves as a subject matter expert on rail operations, safety practices, and operating procedures.

The successful candidate will facilitate classroom and field training, evaluate employee understanding, support leadership teams through operational audits, and assist with corrective action planning when improvement opportunities are identified. This position plays a key role in maintaining a strong safety culture and ensuring operational consistency across Railserve locations.

The ideal candidate has extensive railroad experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively train employees in both classroom and field environments. Candidates must be comfortable presenting information, facilitating discussions, and answering operational questions from employees and leadership teams.

This position requires regional travel to support training and auditing activities at multiple Railserve locations.

Schedule
Monday through Friday
Standard business hours with flexibility based on operational needs
Occasional overnight travel required
Approximately 20% regional travel

Compensation
$85,000 - $95,000 annually based on experience

Duties
Facilitate classroom and field training for Railserve employees involved in rail operations
Develop and maintain training programs, materials, and instructional content
Deliver operational, safety, and compliance training programs
Conduct routine operational audits and safety assessments
Perform Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) audits
Evaluate compliance with company procedures and applicable regulations
Partner with leadership teams to develop corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives
Monitor employee understanding and effectiveness of training programs
Utilize training software, testing platforms, and educational resources to support learning objectives
Serve as a subject matter expert for rail operations and operating procedures
Support investigations, audits, and operational reviews as needed
Act as a liaison between operational teams, customers, and leadership groups when required
Maintain accurate training and audit documentation
Support additional training, safety, and compliance initiatives as assigned

Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Railroad operations experience required
Strong knowledge of rail switching operations, railroad safety practices, and operating procedures required
Experience conducting training, coaching, mentoring, or employee development activities preferred
Safety training certifications preferred
Strong presentation and public speaking skills
Ability to present information clearly and confidently to employees at all levels
Ability to answer operational and safety-related questions in both classroom and field settings
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and training-related software systems
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Ability to travel approximately 20% regionally
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
