Workers provide daily care for live animals, including bovids and other livestock species, by feeding, watering, and monitoring animal health and behavior. Duties include assisting with livestock reproduction such as weaning, supporting births, and hand-raising offspring; weighing animals; catching, herding, and moving animals between enclosures; and conducting daily physical observations to identify illness, injury, or abnormalities, especially in newborn and young animals. Workers clean and disinfect stalls, pens, yards, and equipment using hand tools, pressure washers, and approved disinfectants while following strict biosecurity, animal handling, and sanitation standards. Additional responsibilities include maintaining animal enclosures and grounds, removing fallen trees or brush, operating tractors and utility equipment for weed control and facility maintenance, and performing physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Minimum Education Required

No High School Diploma or GED required

Minimum Experience Required

Two months of recent, verifiable experience performing the listed job duties required. Must be able to obtain an appropriate driver's license and maintain a clean driving record. Drug screening, including possible random testing after hire. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Work involves exposure to extreme temperatures, extensive pushing or pulling and sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending, and repetitive movements.

EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts. Required work-related tools and supplies provided free of charge by employer.

Effective Jan 1, 2024, per MN State Statute, an employee will earn one hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to at least 48 hours of accrued Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) per year, provided the employee works a minimum of 80 hours in a calendar year.
