Description
JOB FUNCTION:
As a Fleet Maintenance Technician you will repair and maintain fleet equipment and assist with snow removal.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and safety
  • Perform all levels of preventive maintenance and services on fleet and campus equipment
  • Complete repair orders accurately and legibly with all necessary information
  • Repair and troubleshoot major components such as engine, transmissions and differentials, to include replacing complete assemblies, fuel system components etc.
  • Utilize OEM Software to preform diagnostic solutions of fleet vehicles
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications
  • Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly
  • Assign priority and process vehicle repair work orders
  • Provide accurate documentation and filing
  • Work safely, effectively, and cooperatively with team members, supervisors, drivers, dispatchers, and outside services
  • Assist snow removal team at the wholesale complex
  • Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 18 years old or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with ability to obtain Class A CDL
  • Thermo King / Carrier repair experience
  • Diesel and heavy equipment / trailer mechanic skills
  • Basic computer skills (diagnostic and administrative)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Mechanic work on, under, or in vehicles for 6+ hours a day
  • Computer keyboard work sitting for up to 2 hours at a time
  • Occasional walking, crawling and climbing
  • Often preforming lifting, pushing, and pulling activities

TYPICAL EQUIPMENT USED:
  • A variety of tools and equipment are used for class 8 heavy duty vehicle repairs, hand tools, computer diagnostics, tire machines, etc.
  • Equipment- Detroit, Volvo, Cummins, Thermo King, Carrier, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Exposure to varying temperatures
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, oils, gases, and fumes
  • Occasionally exposed to extreme cold and hot temperatures
  • Occasional moderate to loud truck shop noise
