Job description

Estimating Engineer
We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimating Engineer to join our team. This role is key to supporting the successful bidding and preconstruction phases of our projects. The Estimating Engineer will work closely with estimators, project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure accurate cost assessments and effective bid submissions.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical skills and a passion for construction to contribute to a wide range of responsibilities, from reviewing project documents and developing take-offs to assisting with contract preparation and post-bid activities.

Key Responsibilities

Attend pre-bid meetings, job-walks, and submit bids during bid closeouts

Organize and review project plans, specifications, and related documents to assist the estimator in determining the project scope

Develop quantity take-offs and pricing for various project components

Assist the estimator in developing schedules and formulating requests for information (RFI) questions during the bidding process

Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and availability of materials

Analyze supplier and subcontractor quotes for accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness based on quantity take-offs, project documentation review, and project understanding

Help maintain the organization of quote requests, quote receipts, and contacts by communicating and responding to vendor and subcontractor questions through the quote organization software

Work closely with estimators and ask questions as necessary to understand their estimate

Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering solutions

Assist estimator in ensuring compliance with contract requirements and industry standards

Participate in bid reviews with the estimator, fill out the required checklist completely, and be prepared to answer questions regarding the bid

Assist in post-bid negotiations and contract finalization

Submit bids for smaller projects with the oversight of an estimator.

Compile a list of vendors and subcontractors for Contract Administration to write letters of intent for successful bids

Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders during the preconstruction process

Participate in training sessions on various software applications, industry education, and other seminars to enhance knowledge.

Promote and uphold the company’s missions and values and exercise due diligence in the performance of your tasks

All other duties as assigned


Requirements and Abilities

Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management preferred

Proficiency in estimating software

Advanced skills in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and other cost analysis tools

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Strong and clear communication and writing skills

Ability to work efficiently and manage time effectively
