Overview

The Epic Data Acquisition Analyst works with client health systems to extract clinical, pharmacy, scheduling, referral, and provider data from Epic into VytlOne's VytlAIQ 340B optimization and analytics platform. Builds and validates Epic reports and interfaces for assigned data feeds, documents specifications, and coordinates directly with client technical contacts under the direction of senior team members. Work is collaborative and moderately independent in nature; contributes to moderately complex aspects of client data acquisition.

Responsibilities
  • Work with client Epic teams and senior analysts to extract assigned data feeds from Epic for the VytlAIQ platform, following the VytlAIQ data input matrix.
  • Travel to client health system sites to support on-site data acquisition work, discovery sessions, and testing.
  • Work directly with the customer's IT, Epic/informatics, and operations staff on assigned feeds, escalating broader cross-team coordination needs to senior team members.
  • Build, configure, and validate Epic reports and extracts using Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, and SlicerDicer.
  • Support Epic interface work for HL7 v2 (ADT, SIU, REF), FHIR R4, and SMART on FHIR feeds, coordinating with client interface analysts and VytlOne's data platform team.
  • Document report and interface specifications, field mappings, and extraction steps for assigned feeds.
  • Configure and test file-based feeds delivered via PGP-encrypted SFTP.
  • Perform validation, reconciliation, and quality checks on extracted data, and resolve discrepancies with client contacts and senior analysts.
  • Track and fully document changes to specifications; maintain accurate records for each client's feeds.
  • Participate in requirements gathering with client stakeholders and translate needs into extraction specifications.
  • Ensure assigned data acquisition activity follows HIPAA, BAA terms, minimum-necessary principles, and 340B program requirements.
  • Provide end-user support for assigned feeds and liaise with client and vendor technical staff for problem resolution.
  • Provide status updates and escalate blockers to senior team members.
  • Develop organizational, business, application, and functional process knowledge to identify process gaps and areas for improvement.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a similar discipline from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 3-4 years of directly related experience working with Epic in a health system, health IT, or vendor capacity.
  • Experience in a client-facing role, working on-site with customer IT, Epic/informatics, and operations staff.
  • Experience building and validating Epic reports and extracts using Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, and/or SlicerDicer.
  • Working experience with healthcare integration standards: HL7 v2 (ADT, SIU, REF), FHIR R4, and/or SMART on FHIR.
  • Experience with file-based data feeds and SFTP; PGP encryption experience desirable.
  • Experience working with client or end-user technical contacts to gather requirements.
  • Familiarity with Epic's data model (Clarity / Caboodle) desirable.
  • Epic Willow pharmacy data exposure desirable.
  • Healthcare data experience with an understanding of PHI handling under HIPAA.
  • 340B program or pharmacy data exposure desirable.
  • Epic certification preferred; VytlOne will sponsor certification for qualified candidates.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and validation.
  • Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of JIRA and ServiceNow desirable.
  • Azure Cloud exposure desirable.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is [$70k - $95k].ย Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
