Job description

Overall Summary:
The Adjuster Operator plays a crucial role in driving the company's operational excellence and supporting its strategic goals. By configuring machinery to meet customer specifications and expertly troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment, this position ensures reliable production and high-quality output. As an integral member of the lean manufacturing team, the Adjuster Operator actively contributes to continuous improvement, efficiency, and waste reduction initiatives. Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Set up machines to generate customer envelopes according to job specifications, adhering to standard work practices to ensure both quality and timely delivery. Monitor machine performance and speed, utilizing continuous improvement techniques to increase efficiency.
  • Engage with Envelope Adjusters and Packer Operators in daily communication to maintain a focus on safety, quality, and delivery targets across the production team. Address any quality or safety concerns immediately by stopping the machine and collaborating to implement root cause solutions.
  • Proactively surface the need for parts and coordinate preventative maintenance with the Supervisor and Equipment Technicians to minimize downtime and support consistent workflow.
  • Make routine decisions within lean guidelines established by the Supervisor, always prioritizing safety, quality, and delivery outcomes.
  • Understand the job priorities. Carry out machinery repairs promptly to reduce waste related to equipment failure, maintaining reliability for on-time delivery.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace through 5S principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
  • Ability to see and clearly identify all aspects of the color spectrum.
  • Ability to read and write English and understand oral and written communications.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively contribute to team huddles, problem-solving discussions, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow standardized work instructions and actively participate in continuous improvement activities, such as Kaizen events or lean suggestion programs.
  • Basic math skills, ability to read measurements, and accurately record data as part of visual management or production tracking systems.
  • Willingness to identify and help eliminate waste in processes, and support a culture of safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Previous participation on a safety or lean manufacturing team, or completion of safety/lean training, is a plus.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred, or commensurate experience relating to the job required; trade school a plus 1-2 years.
  • 3+ years Adjuster experience on 627, SR and/or SW machines in a position of similar skill set and level of responsibility within the Envelope industry.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work consecutively 12-hour shifts, rotating 2 or 3 days per week including weekend rotations- at this time we are prioritizing local, Twin Cities based applicants
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Standard climate-controlled production environment; exposure to loud noise (PPE is provided).
  • Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, pivot, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for up to 12 hours.
  • Upper extremity motion requirements: fine motor movements, pushing/pulling with arms, grasping and pinching.
  • Lower extremity motion requirements: reaching.
  • Pre-employment post-offer comprehensive assessment required.

Salary:
The starting hourly range for this position is $30 - $43 plus $1.50 shift differential.
