What is a full time entry level motorsport job?

Full time entry level motorsport jobs are positions within the motorsport industry designed for individuals who are just starting their careers, often requiring little to no prior experience. These roles can include positions such as mechanic assistants, data analysts, junior engineers, or administrative support within racing teams, event organizations, or related companies. Entry level jobs typically provide on-the-job training and a pathway for career growth in areas like engineering, event management, marketing, or technical support. Candidates often need a relevant educational background, a passion for motorsports, and strong teamwork skills. These roles are ideal for those looking to break into the competitive motorsport field and gain valuable industry experience.

What skills and qualifications are needed for a full time entry level motorsport role?

To thrive in a full-time entry-level motorsport role, you generally need a background in mechanical engineering, automotive technology, or related fields, often supported by technical diplomas or degrees. Familiarity with motorsport-specific tools, diagnostic software, and safety protocols is commonly required, and certifications like ASE or IMI can be advantageous. Strong teamwork, attention to detail, and a high level of initiative are crucial soft skills for standing out in this fast-paced environment. These skills and qualifications ensure precise vehicle preparation, effective collaboration under pressure, and contribute directly to team safety and performance.

What challenges do entry level motorsport professionals face and how can they overcome them?

Entry-level roles in motorsport often involve working long, irregular hours, especially during race weekends or testing periods. You may face a steep learning curve as you adapt to fast-paced environments and high expectations for accuracy and teamwork. Building strong communication skills and being proactive about learning from more experienced colleagues can help you succeed. Embracing flexibility and showing enthusiasm for varied tasks—whether in the garage or supporting logistics—will make you a valuable team member and open doors for advancement.

Job description

Overview

412 Motorsport is Los Angeles's destination for high-performance automotive services. We offer all services and care for vehicles that range from weekend track cars to six-figure exotics, and our clients trust us with their most prized vehicles. As demand for our PPF and paint protection services continues to grow, we're bringing on a dedicated installer who shares our obsession with quality craftsmanship and work.

Your Role

We're looking for an experienced Paint Protection Film Installer who can deliver flawless,

industry-leading installs on a wide range of vehicles — from partial kits to full-body protection.

You'll be working in a professional shop environment alongside passionate, skilled teammates on

high-end exotic vehicles. This isn't an entry-level position; we need someone who can hit the ground

running, take ownership of their work, and meet deadlines.

Skills and Requirements

● 2+ years of hands-on PPF installation experience in a professional setting

● Must know how to operate a pre-cut plotter/cutting machine

● Install PPF on full vehicles and partial panels including hoods, trunks, bumpers, mirrors, rockers, doors, and carbon fiber accessories

● Use DAP/plotter software and pre-cut kits (XPEL, STEK, or similar) as well as hand-cutting when required

● Perform surface decontamination and prep prior to every install and inspect finished installs with

attention to edges, seams, finger pockets, and optical clarity

● Communicate job status, timelines, and any fitment concerns to the operations manager

● Handle high-value and exotic vehicles with the care they demand

● Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean installation bay

● Stay current on new films, adhesive technologies, and industry installation techniques

● Strong understanding of safe work practices when handling chemicals, equipment, and shop environments

● XPEL or STEK certification preferred
