Electrical Designer | Ogden, UT


Nexeo HR is assisting with a direct-hire placement for Electrical Designers supporting large-scale underground and facility-based infrastructure projects in Ogden, Utah. This role focuses on complex electrical design work requiring strong experience in power distribution, grounding, lighting, conduit and cable tray systems, and full 3D/BIM electrical modeling.

This position offers a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off), paid overtime, and relocation assistance.


Job Responsibilities


  • Create 3D electrical facility models using SmartPlant 3D
  • Develop 2D electrical drawings using AutoCAD and SmartSketch
  • Model electrical rooms, equipment, cable trays, conduit systems, lighting, grounding, and lightning protection
  • Produce installation details and bills of material
  • Perform lighting layouts (AGI32) and ground grid layouts (ETAP)
  • Utilize cable management systems such as SETROUTE
  • Coordinate in a BIM environment to resolve multi-discipline interferences
  • Develop material specifications using SpecsIntact
  • Create complete electrical design packages from redlines, as-builts, and engineering markups
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NEMA, ANSI, and IEEE standards
  • Collaborate with systems engineering, structural, and mechanical teams
  • Senior-level designers will review deliverables and mentor junior designers


Job Qualifications


  • Experience designing facilities (not manufacturing or production lines)
  • Strong experience with power distribution and NEC code
  • Proficiency with SmartPlant 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or similar 3D CAD tools
  • BIM modeling and multi-discipline coordination experience
  • Experience with cable tray, conduit, grounding, lighting, and electrical room layouts
  • Experience using cable management systems (SETROUTE preferred)
  • Ability to produce full electrical drawing packages from redlines
  • Experience with large industrial facilities such as data centers, utility plants, hospitals, or complex infrastructure projects
  • High School Diploma with 9+ years of experience OR Associate Degree with 6+ years of experience


Highly Desired


  • SmartPlant 3D and SmartSketch experience
  • Experience modeling piping, HVAC, or mechanical equipment in SmartPlant
  • Experience with ISO-9000 quality procedures
  • Experience reviewing and checking design packages (senior level)


Pay

$95,000 – $145,000 annually
