Job description

Position Title: Dynamics 365 (D365) Solution Architect
Location: Remote
Position Status: Full Time
Position Description:
We are seeking a highly strategic and technically grounded Dynamics 365 (D365) Solution Architect to lead the design and evolution of a modern, scalable Microsoft ecosystem. This role blends architectural leadership, functional design expertise, and hands-on technical stewardship to ensure long-term system health and business alignment.
You will serve as a key decision-maker across business and technology teams, shaping solutions that leverage Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE), Customer Insights - Journeys (CIJ), and the Power Platform while maintaining governance over external partners and system integrity. This is a hybrid/remote position with quarterly travel required for SAFe Program Increment (PI) planning sessions.
The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a pragmatic executor, capable of guiding enterprise architecture decisions while stepping in at a technical level when necessary to prevent over-engineering and avoid technical debt.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Governance & Functional Solution Design
  • Lead architectural oversight of third-party system integrators and vendors, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and long-term scalability.
  • Critically evaluate partner-delivered solution designs and blueprints, identifying risks, inefficiencies, and over-customization.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable functional solutions leveraging native D365 capabilities.
  • Advocate for configuration over customization, minimizing technical debt and ensuring future upgrade compatibility.
  • Establish and enforce design standards, documentation practices, and solution review processes.

Full-Stack Microsoft Ecosystem Architecture
  • Design and deliver end-to-end solutions across:
    • Dynamics 365 CE (Sales, Customer Service)
    • Customer Insights - Journeys (CIJ) for data unification, segmentation, and campaign orchestration
    • Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Power BI)
  • Define best practices for Dataverse usage, including entity modeling, security architecture, and performance optimization.
  • Drive adoption of Power Platform Center of Excellence (CoE) governance frameworks to ensure scalability and compliance.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure solutions align with customer engagement strategies and operational workflows.

Enterprise Integration Strategy
  • Define and guide integration architecture connecting D365/CIJ with:
  • Legacy ERP systems (e.g., Prophet 21, homegrown platforms)
  • Data platforms (data lakes, warehouses)
  • Middleware solutions (Azure Integration Services, MuleSoft)
  • Establish integration patterns (APIs, event-driven architecture, batch processing) that promote scalability and resilience.
  • Ensure data consistency, integrity, and governance across systems.
  • Partner with engineering teams to troubleshoot and optimize integration performance.

Modern Technology Stack & AI Enablement
  • Develop and maintain a forward-looking technology roadmap aligned to Microsoft's evolving ecosystem.
  • Architect solutions leveraging:
    • Dataverse advanced modeling techniques
    • Azure OpenAI services
    • Copilot Studio and AI-assisted workflows
    • AI Builder for automation and predictive insights
  • Ensure all AI and automation capabilities are designed with strong data governance, privacy, and security frameworks.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovations that drive business value and efficiency.

Enterprise Release & Lifecycle Management
  • Define and oversee Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) strategies across environments.
  • Implement and manage Power Platform Pipelines for controlled solution deployment and versioning.
  • Establish release governance processes including testing standards, rollback procedures, and environment strategies.
  • Ensure consistency and traceability across development, QA, and production environments.

Agile Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as a key participant and architectural leader during SAFe PI Planning sessions (quarterly travel required).
  • Align business, product, and engineering teams around shared architectural vision and priorities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to developers, analysts, and junior architects.
  • Facilitate design workshops, backlog refinement sessions, and technical decision-making forums.
  • Drive accountability across teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.

Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven experience as a D365 Solution Architect or Senior Technical Architect within enterprise environments.
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Dynamics 365 CE (Sales, Service)
    • Customer Insights (CIJ)
    • Power Platform ecosystem
  • Strong understanding of Dataverse architecture and data modeling.
  • Experience designing enterprise integrations using Azure Integration Services, APIs, or middleware platforms.
  • Hands-on familiarity with development concepts (plugins, workflows, APIs) to guide and validate technical decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in vendor management and architecture governance.
  • Knowledge of ALM best practices and deployment automation tools.
  • Experience working in Agile/SAFe environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert (PL-600) certification
  • Experience with Azure OpenAI, Copilot, or AI-driven automation solutions
  • Background in large-scale digital transformation or enterprise modernization initiatives
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences
