Description
The DuPage County Health Department is looking for a new team member, bi-lingual, highly preferred, at our Addison office. In this role, you will be working in the Family Health Services programs with the maternal and child health population. You will be responsible for performing clerical duties to assist with the efficient movement of clients through the clinic. We are looking for someone with the ability to adhere to office procedures while providing courteous customer service. The hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, and rotating late on Thursdays.
This position offers a full DuPage County benefit package, which includes Affordable Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, 12 paid holidays, 12 days of paid vacation, 5 paid personal days, accrued sick leave, and 12 weeks of paid parental time. This is also a pension-eligible position, and we are a qualifying employer under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness and offer tuition and certification reimbursement. *Salary may increase based on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Updates client records; enters client's data into computer systems including revising or updating addresses and telephone numbers.
  • Schedules appointments: ensures that release forms or consent forms have been signed; prepares various forms and worksheets.
  • Sets up clinic rooms with appropriate supplies; processes daily reports; monitors on hand supplies and coordinates replenishment as needed.
  • Assists clients with tests such as hemoglobin, blood pressure, and physical measurements.
  • Obtains health histories from patients by conducting patient interviews; follows-up on client status; performs duties necessary to close clinics.
  • Maintains required training, licensure, and/or certification.
  • Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.
  • Participates in emergency response activities as assigned.
  • Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to patient privacy laws.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of other ethnic groups and cultures.
  • May assist with determining client eligibility for programs.
  • Assist with interpretation.

Requirements
Completion of high school diploma/GED. One year of experience working in a customer service or human/social services related field is preferred.
Attendance at paid New Hire Orientation at our Central Public Health Center in Wheaton, is required. Good knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; some knowledge of medical terminology and filing systems; some knowledge of program requirements and eligibility.

Medical Insurance
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois is our current health insurance provider. Full-Time Health Department employees may select from four medical insurance options: three preferred provider organization (PPO) plans and one health maintenance organization (HMO) plan. You may speak to a doctor anytime through the Teledoc program, which provides access to U.S. board-certified doctors through the convenience of phone or video consults.
Plan participants are also eligible for a variety of added discounts on gym memberships and other health-related products and services. They also have access to the Well on Target program, which provides a convenient, secure website with personalized tools and resources such as health coaching, health assessments, and digital tools to track health information important to you.
Vision Discounts & Insurance
A vision care discount program is available as part of the medical insurance plans. Comprehensive vision insurance is also available.
Prescription Plans
Prescription coverage is available with all medical plans and includes the convenience of a mail-order option. Staff may also use the on-site pharmacy at the Central Public Health Center located in Wheaton.

The Delta Dental PPO program allows you to visit any dentist you wish.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Flexible Spending Accounts allow you to set aside money on a pre-tax basis to pay expenses such as those not covered by medical or dental insurance, or day-care costs.
Life Insurance
All full-time employees are provided a $25,000 life insurance policy at no cost to the employee. Supplemental coverage is available for the employee, their spouse, and their children.
Disability Insurance
Employees may elect additional accident and critical illness disability benefits.
