Position Overview

The Engineering Technician is an integral team member, collaborating closely with project teams to ensure compliance with Electrical Distribution System standards and regulations.  You will utilize software like WMS, Pole Foreman, DDS, and AutoCAD for the design preparation and review of project packages. If you have experience in Utility Overhead Distribution design, System Hardening, or Post Construction Audits, we want to hear from you! Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution system design engineering standards, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to apply client, industry, and regulatory standards and requirements to existing distribution system components.
  • Supports the Engineering Manager by handling some of the project assignments and managing project performance and customer relationships for the distribution team.
  • Problem identification and resolution.
  • Experience working with Overhead/Underground Distribution projects, System Hardening, Joint Use projects, Post Construction Audits, Post Attachment Inspections, and Third Party Attachments. 
  • Utilize software such as Distribution Design Studio, Pole Foreman, Design Manager, O-Calc, WMS, and/or AutoCAD in the preparation of project design packages.
  • Review of completed designs and design products to ensure compliance with client, industry, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review of design products to ensure compliance with quality and consistency expectations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal, client, and regulatory counterparts.
  • Ability to maintain production in a changing environment.
  • Identify and promote training opportunities.
Qualifications
  • AA/AS Degree or 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade (technical school/certifications) preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required to qualify for an Engineer title; candidates without a bachelor's degree can be considered for a Technician-level role based on experience. 
  • 3+ years' experience in Utility Distribution design using Design Manager, DDS, Pole Foreman, AutoCAD, O-Calc, or similar software.
  • 3+ years' experience in Utility Overhead/Underground Distribution projects, Storm Hardening, Joint Use projects, post construction audits, post attachment inspections, and third party attachment experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office product application.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and client care.
  • Ability to work with a variety of projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent document management and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Valid Drivers License required.
