KGI Wireless is growing and looking for a skilled Journeyman Lineman to join our team. This position is responsible for supporting the construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and restoration of overhead and underground electric distribution systems while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and teamwork. The Groundman will assist line crews with daily utility operations, material handling, equipment setup, traZic control, and jobsite preparation in accordance with KGI client standards and industry best practices.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support line crews with overhead and underground distribution construction and maintenance activities
  • Load, unload, organize, and stage materials, tools, and equipment for daily work activities
  • Operate hand tools, tampers, chainsaws, jackhammers, compactors, and other utility support equipment
  • Assist with traZic control setup and maintain safe work zones in accordance with company and client standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of job sites, vehicles, and equipment
  • Assist with pole framing, conductor handling, grounding setup, and material preparation
  • Operate company vehicles and support equipment in accordance with Federal, State, local, and company policies
  • Assist during storm restoration and emergency response eZorts as needed
  • Participate in tailboards, job briefings, hazard assessments, and monthly safety meetings
  • Support apprentices and journeyman lineman with daily work activities
  • Maintain professionalism and integrity while representing KGI and its clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of utility operations

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, rain, and storm environments
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift throughout the workday
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds
  • Work around energized electrical equipment and active construction zones
  • Travel within the South-Central Texas region as needed
  • Be available for storm restoration and emergency response call outs
  • Utilize required PPE and safety equipment at all times
  • Work extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Texas driver license required
  • Valid Texas Class A CDL preferred or ability to obtain within the first 90 days of employment
  • OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain within the first 90 days of employment
  • Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding environments
  • Ability to follow instructions and work eZectively within a team environment
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background screening, and fit-for-duty requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous utility construction or outdoor labor experience
  • Basic knowledge of overhead and underground electric distribution systems
  • Experience operating construction tools and equipment
  • TraZic control certification or experience
  • Previous storm restoration experience
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn
  • Interest in pursuing a career within the electric utility industry
