Job description

Overview

This position provides basic to intermediate operator and mechanical grounds maintenance services. This position is responsible for maintaining the facility landscaping, parking areas, roadways, sidewalks, and exterior trash receptacles by operating all landscape associated equipment. Provides grounds maintenance in all seasons. Responsible for snow and dirt removal. Performs preventative and corrective maintenance for this facilities landscape, irrigation systems and grounds equipment. Operates heavy machinery, such as a mower or loaders. Also operates assorted power equipment and is responsible for routine maintenance or repairs.

Responsibilities
  • Performs routine maintenance of facility grounds by operating all power and/or hand equipment required to keep the facility' s lawns, trees, shrubs, and flower beds in a clean, safe, and attractive condition. Maintains weed control and removes dead foliage. Performs snow and ice removal at all entrances, exits, parking lots, and sidewalks. Operates dump truck, snow plows, and gravel distribution.
  • Inspects and maintains grounds and sidewalks, breezeways, parking lots, roadways, and facility entrances. Ensures grounds are in a safe, clean, and attractive condition free of hazards. Operates sweepers and blowers for parking areas and roadways. Routinely empties all trash receptacles and picks up litter throughout the exterior areas of the campus. Maintains compactor and landscape debris waste containers.
  • Plants and cares for flowers, trees, and shrubs during summer months. Responds to assigned general maintenance and emergency calls as required. Maintains a detailed log on all required facility equipment, records all shift activity. May assist in providing security backup.
  • Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports unsafe equipment and attends safety education sessions. 
  • Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

    Qualifications

    High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge, plus vocational or technical training. Must possess a valid driver's license and eligibility for coverage under the company auto insurance policy. Must be eligible to obtain a commercial driver's license.Requires at least 1 year of diversified grounds keeping / landscaping / heavy machine operations work experience. Must be able to operate all required equipment used in landscaping. Must be capable of functioning independently as well as in a team environment to complete all necessary duties. Requires the ability to work safely and effectively with grounds keeping maintenance equipment.Must be proficient in reading and understanding related and required maintenance and operator documents. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPossession of a current commercial driver's license preferred.Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
