Excavator Operator โ€“ DemolitionPosition Summary

The Excavator Operator is responsible for the safe and productive operation of excavators and related heavy equipment on demolition projects. This position performs structural demolition, material handling, loading, site preparation, and debris management while maintaining compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate excavators equipped with buckets, grapples, shears, hammers, processors, and other attachments.
  • Perform structural demolition of commercial, industrial, and residential facilities.
  • Load trucks and containers with demolition debris and recyclable materials.
  • Sort and segregate materials for recycling and disposal.
  • Assist with site preparation, grading, excavation, and backfilling activities.
  • Conduct daily inspections and basic maintenance of assigned equipment.
  • Identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs through supervisors and maintenance personnel.
  • Follow demolition plans and work instructions provided by project management.
  • Work safely around utilities, structures, personnel, and equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Participate in safety meetings and job hazard analyses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of excavator operating experience preferred.
  • Demolition experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating multiple attachments including grapples, shears, and hydraulic hammers.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Work Environment

Work is performed at active demolition and construction sites. Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, traffic, and changing site conditions should be expected.
