Job Purpose or Objective(s):  
IT Project Manager:plays a key role in helping achieve project objectives and in supporting the overall mission of the Choctaw Nation by providing support to a range of IT projects. The role of the IT Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget, including acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members to deliver projects according to plan.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Drafts project documents, establishes, and facilitates meetings of cross-functional workgroups and project steering committees, overall project coordination, including planning and sequencing work, setting milestones and deadlines, assigning responsibilities and providing status updates.  
  2. Works on one or more projects of small-medium size, scope, and complexity. Manages activities of small-medium sized project teams, which may include consultants or 3rd party vendors, controlling the indirect management of resources and schedules to ensure timely completion. 
  3. An experienced professional with a developing understanding of area of specialization; resolves a medium range of issues. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.  
  4. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instruction on new projects or assignments.  
  5. Moderate ability to influence immediate team regarding assigned tasks. Maintains relationships with vendors, customers, and peers.  
  6. Identifies project risks and implements contingency plans.  Identifies and resolves issues and obstacles, escalating where necessary to the project sponsor, steering committee, or appropriate party. Receives guidance on resolving conflicts between competing projects and aligning the work to be performed to achieve departmental goals. 
  7. Collaborates with business, IT and vendor teams to develop detailed work plans, including work breakdown structures, project milestones, risk assessment / management plans, staffing needs, project timelines and budgets.  
  8. Manages communication plan for project status, issues, and risks; provides project performance metrics with a focus on status, budgets, and projections.  Organizes, schedules, and manages project work sessions, status meetings and presentations to the project steering committee.  
  9. Adjusts plans of action in response to changes in priority. Shifts project team focus in response to newly identified risks or issues.   
  10. Perform other duties as assigned. 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical/business discipline or a minimum of four years' experience in a professional environment or 4 years related experience.
  • 3 years' additional relevant experience 
  • Knowledge of relevant business processes to accurately be able to mitigate risks. 
  • 1 years' experience with relevant IT systems 
  • 1 years' experience with change control and ticket fulfillment processes across enterprise software environments 
  • Interest in obtaining a project management certification (CAPM/PMP) 
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office, Visio, and Teams. 
  • Proficiency in use of Wrike, Workfront, MS Project or similar project management software. 
  • 1 years' experience applying traditional waterfall software development processes and Agile/Scrum methodologies. 
  • Must be comfortable working in an accountable and deadline-oriented environment and maintain flexible working hours.
