Full-Time Medical Clinic Receptionist

Northwest Florida Community Hospital is seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Medical Clinic Receptionist to join our team. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming experience while providing exceptional customer service and administrative support in a fast-paced medical clinic.

Position Summary:

The Medical Clinic Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while supporting the daily operations of the medical clinic. This position is responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, registering patients, verifying insurance information, collecting payments, answering phones, and performing a variety of administrative duties. The Medical Clinic Receptionist promotes a positive patient experience by maintaining professionalism, accuracy, confidentiality, and efficiency in all interactions while supporting the hospital's mission of delivering quality healthcare close to home.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Greet and check in patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls promptly and professionally.
  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Collect copays, deductibles, and other patient payments.
  • Register new patients and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
  • Scan, file, and organize medical documents.
  • Coordinate with providers, nurses, and other clinic staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with referrals, medical records requests, and other clerical duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous medical office or receptionist experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification is preferred.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of customer service or receptionist experience required.
  • Previous experience in a medical office, physician practice, hospital, or other healthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience with patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, electronic health records (EHR), and multi-line telephone systems is preferred.
  • Cash handling and payment collection experience is a plus.
