The Medical Assistant Receptionist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of healthcare facilities by serving as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. This position involves managing patient intake, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records, thereby facilitating efficient patient flow and communication between medical staff and patients. The role requires a compassionate and professional demeanor to provide excellent customer service while handling sensitive patient information with confidentiality. The Medical Assistant Receptionist also supports clinical staff by coordinating administrative tasks and assisting with basic medical procedures as needed. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall patient experience and the effective delivery of healthcare services.

We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full-Time, Medical Assistant/Receptionist at Dr. Mehul Shah, M.D - Essex Digestive Specialist in Millburn, NJ and Nutley, NJ locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical personnel.
  • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
  • Assist medical staff with administrative duties including preparing patient charts and managing correspondence.
  • Collect co-pays and process payments, providing receipts and managing billing inquiries.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
  • Ensure the reception area is organized, welcoming, and stocked with necessary forms and materials.
