Job description

Who is the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra?
Known for its artistic excellence for more than 120 years, today the PSO is the region’s national and international cultural ambassador. A two-time 2018 GRAMMY® Award-winning orchestral ensemble credited with a rich history of concerts, performances, and recordings with the world’s finest conductors and musicians, the PSO consistently demonstrates a genuine commitment to Pittsburgh’s citizens, regional communities, and vibrant cultural scene.  Now entering its 130th season, the internationally acclaimed Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) engages audiences of all ages through unparalleled live musical experiences, community collaborations, and educational programming that enrich every life with great music.
The Digital Content Producer is a creative video storyteller responsible for producing compelling and engaging content that advances the PSO’s brand and cultivates its digital audience. This role leads the end-to-end creation of long-form video content while supporting short-form video needs across organic social media and paid digital campaigns. Working in the Marketing & Communications team, this role helps shape and execute a cohesive video content strategy for the PSO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Video Content Creation: produce compelling video content end-to-end, including ideation, scripting, filming, editing and post-production. Types of content could include interviews, guest artist spotlights, PSO musician features, concert footage, editing existing content, etc.
  • Strategy and Planning: plan and maintain a production calendar for long-form video content in conjunction with the Communications team.
  • Editing and Post-Production: work with the Marketing & Communications teams to supplement and assist content creation for organic social media, paid digital advertising, and other video needs.
  • Collaborate: work closely with internal stakeholders, including Artistic Planning, Operations, Marketing, and Development to capture and tell important stories; coordinate production logistics, including scheduling, equipment, and on-site filming needs.
  • Store and Tag: keep an organized digital asset management space with metadata and tagging using PSO’s DAM system.
Required Education and Experience:
  • A portfolio or samples of work will be the best way to display your work and skills; review of your portfolio or samples will be a major consideration in the hiring process.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Film, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in video production, with demonstrated ability to produce content from concept to completion
  • Proficiency in video editing software (preferably Adobe Premiere Pro) and motion graphics tools
  • Curiosity, drive, and excitement for video storytelling, with a strong visual and editorial sensibility
  • Knowledge and use of lighting, audio recording, and camera equipment
  • Creative and curious thinker with a strong sense of storytelling and story-finding
  • Highly organized, with experience managing digital assets in a DAM system (PSO uses Canto)
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Still photography experience
  • Familiarity with digital content strategies for brands or corporations
  • Experience in arts, culture, or live events, and experience shooting live performances
Compensation and Location:
This is a full-time exempt position with an annual salary between $52,000 - $57,000 depending upon experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes paid holidays, paid time off, employer paid health benefits, as well as retirement savings options with an employer match. Heinz Hall in downtown Pittsburgh is the work location for this position. The PSO supports a flexible, hybrid work environment, which currently includes three days per week in-person work, including work on weekends and evenings during PSO and Heinz Hall concerts or events.
