Description

The Marketing Coordinator serves as the organization's lead content marketing professional, coordinating the planning, development, production, and execution of creative communications across owned marketing channels.


Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, this position plays a central role in bringing the agency's marketing and communications strategies to life through compelling storytelling, creative content, digital communications, and community engagement.


The Coordinator collaborates closely with the Director and the Manager to translate organizational priorities into engaging campaigns, content plans, and marketing assets that support volunteer recruitment, donor engagement, community awareness, and other agency initiatives.


As the department's primary content expert, this role contributes creative recommendations, identifies storytelling opportunities, helps shape editorial direction, and continuously looks for ways to strengthen audience engagement while ensuring content aligns with the organization's brand, voice, and strategic priorities.

Location: Hybrid (In office requirement on Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Hourly Hiring Range: $23.08 - $25.96/hour Starting salary will depend on your skills and demonstrated readiness for the role. 

Hours/Day: Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week - including evenings and weekends once or twice a month.

Essential Job Functions

Content Leadership & Storytelling

  • Lead the planning, creation, coordination, and execution of content across social media, blogs, email communications, website content, presentations, videos, photography, and other marketing channels.
  • Serve as the department's primary storyteller by identifying meaningful stories that elevate the voices of youth, mentors, families, donors, volunteers, corporate partners, and community members.
  • Recommend creative approaches that strengthen engagement, increase visibility, and enhance the organization's brand.
  • Maintain the department's creative asset library and content archives.

Editorial & Social Media Leadership

  • Lead the development and maintenance of the organization's editorial and social media content calendar in alignment with priorities established by the Director.
  • Coordinate day-to-day content planning across Programs, Development, Community Engagement & Recruitment, and organizational initiatives.
  • Identify emerging content opportunities, seasonal trends, and timely storytelling moments.
  • Create, publish, monitor, and optimize content across the organization's social media platforms.
  • Monitor audience engagement and platform insights and recommend opportunities to improve content performance.

Campaign Planning & Creative Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Director and Audience Engagement & Digital Marketing Manager during campaign planning by contributing creative ideas, audience observations, storytelling opportunities, and content recommendations.
  • Help translate approved marketing strategies into coordinated content plans and campaign deliverables.
  • Coordinate creative production timelines and ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Support campaign execution across multiple communication channels.

Email Communications

  • Lead the production and coordination of newsletters and email communications.
  • Coordinate content gathering, editing, formatting, quality assurance, scheduling, and distribution.
  • Collaborate with the Audience Engagement & Digital Marketing Manager to implement audience segmentation, automation, and email optimization strategies.
  • Recommend opportunities to improve email content, storytelling, readability, and audience engagement.

Website Content Management

  • Serve as the department's primary content manager for the website.
  • Publish and maintain website content in partnership with the Audience Engagement & Digital Marketing Manager.
  • Ensure website content remains current, engaging, accessible, and aligned with organizational messaging.
  • Coordinate content updates supporting campaigns, events, recruitment, and agency priorities.

Event Content & Multimedia Production

  • Lead content coverage for organizational events by capturing photography, video, interviews, and other creative assets.
  • Produce multimedia content that extends the impact of events across digital channels.
  • Coordinate post-event storytelling and maintain organized photo and video libraries.

Marketing Operations

  • Coordinate marketing requests through the department's project management system.
  • Manage content production schedules and editorial workflows.
  • Coordinate assigned creative vendors, print production, promotional items, and marketing materials.
  • Track assigned projects and communicate progress, risks, and resource needs to the Director.
  • Monitor content performance and audience engagement trends.
  • Recommend improvements that strengthen storytelling, creative quality, accessibility, and audience engagement.
  • Stay informed about emerging content trends, digital communication best practices, and creative technologies.
  • Support continuous improvement of marketing processes and workflows.

Mission Alignment

  • Maintain knowledge of community needs, resources, and networks.
  • Communicate professionally with internal and external constituents.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve results as specified in the strategic plan.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in marketing, communications, nonprofit, community organization or a related field is preferred; Bachelor's degree, certifications are valued.
  • 1-3 years of experience in website, email, and social media marketing, with demonstrated success in creating and implementing integrated marketing and communications campaigns and projects is highly preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience utilizing skills such as storytelling, graphic designing, copywriting, event marketing, photography, videography.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is valued.

Physical Requirements

This position operates in a hybrid environment that includes office work and frequent presence in community and event settings. The role requires the ability to set up and break down outreach and tabling materials, including lifting, carrying, and transporting items up to approximately 40-50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.


The position also requires extended periods of standing, walking, and engaging with the public at community events, as well as regular use of standard office equipment and technology such as computers, mobile devices, and phones. Reliable transportation is required to travel to community locations throughout the Twin Cities.
