Job description

Our team is looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious, and skilled CAD Technician to support our Survey team. The CAD Technician will play a crucial role in supporting our surveying team by utilizing CAD software to produce accurate and detailed drawings, maps, and plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CAD drafting and experience working in a surveying or civil engineering environment.

The position would report in-office at our Indianapolis office. WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to create detailed drawings, maps, and plans based on survey data and specifications provided by the surveying team.
  • Assist in the preparation of surveying documents including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking plans.
  • Collaborate with surveyors and engineers to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings and plans.
  • Calculate points and export alignments, surfaces, and DXF for construction staking.
  • Interpret survey data, sketches, and field notes to accurately depict land features, boundaries, and structures.
  • Maintain organized records of drawings and project files for future reference and revisions.
  • Conduct quality control checks on drawings to ensure adherence to company standards and project requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of project deliverables and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on CAD software advancements and industry best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Communicate regularly with field staff, project managers, and engineers.
  • Work on several projects concurrently.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Associates Degree in Design Technology/CAD a plus. Previous experience working in a surveying or civil engineering environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Excel and Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret survey data and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with surveyors, engineers, and other team members.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet project deadlines.
  • Knowledge of land surveying principles and practices is desirable.
