The company has four operating divisions: Automation & Controls, Electrical Panels, Contract Manufacturing, Specialty Equipment. 

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter/Designer to support our design engineers and company executives in creating and refining detailed 2D and 3D drawings for our custom automation solutions. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in CAD software, and the ability to collaborate with a team.  Some travel to customer sites may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and modify detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings
  • Support our design engineering team
  • Interpret specifications and engineering sketches to produce design documentation.
  • Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) and ensure drawings are properly documented.
  • Maintain an organized CAD file management system for revision control and documentation tracking.
  • Maintain QC documentation (first article, in process inspection reports, etc.)
  • Generate quotes for contract manufacturing and spare parts
  • Assist in creating technical manuals, installation guides, and other supporting documentation
  • Stay up-to-date on CAD software developments and automation industry trends.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A\degree or technical certification in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in CAD software…SolidWorks (preferred), or similar 2D/3D modeling tools).
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles, automation and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read/interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in automation, fabrication, or manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is preferred
  • Ability to collaborate and be the liaison with customers, vendors, engineers, shop floor personnel and company leadership.
  • Ability to program waterjetting, laser forming equipment and press brakes is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
