Job Summary

NEW EMPLOYEES ARE HIRED AT, OR NEAR THE ENTRY POINT SHOWN, DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE.
Leads and works with a crew of skilled and semi-skilled workers in the construction, inspection, maintenance, repair, and operation of County electrically powered traffic control devices, street lighting and associated equipment.
Essential Functions
• Leads and directs assigned staff; coordinates daily work activities of assigned staff; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise.
• Conducts on-site safety, equipment, and electrical training for new and current employees; trains staff in the operations of new equipment and components.
• Maintains, troubleshoots, tests, and calibrate traffic signals and street lighting system's electrical components.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules regulations, standards, policies, and procedures; ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
• Performs inspection of electrically powered traffic control devices and associated equipment.
• Operates a variety of equipment, and tools associated with projects and work activities such as aerial lift truck, load switch tester, malfunction management unit tester, multimeter, two-way radio, inductive loop analyzer, null balance megger, and various electrical hand tools.
• Responds to emergency situations as needed.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
• Position requires inclusion in the on-call rotation.
• Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four (4) years of related experience.
• Fingerprinting required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
• Must possess and maintain a valid FDOT or IMSA Work Zone Safety Certification.
• Must possess and maintain an IMSA Roadway Lighting Level I Certification or IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician Level II Certification.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver License (CDL) with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a county vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.

  • Salary offers above the minimum of the pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
  • Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the County's Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
