CNC Router Programmer Role

Our client is seeking an experienced programmer and operator to take full ownership of their custom millwork CNC routing department. This role exists to bridge the gap between SolidWorks design files and shop floor execution, driving high-precision machining, optimizing toolpaths, and leading first-article approvals for complex, high-end architectural millwork projects.

CNC Router Programmer Responsibilities

  • Convert complex SolidWorks models into precise AlphaCAM routing files to initiate production across custom millwork subassemblies
  • Set up, program, and operate three 3-axis CNC routers and one point-to-point machine with exceptional precision
  • Facilitate first-article runs and detailed approval processes to verify part quality before launching full production runs
  • Direct, support, and mentor shop floor operators to maintain high throughput, process safety, and strict quality standards
  • Analyze and optimize routing paths to decrease cycle times, improve machine efficiency, and reduce material waste
  • Coordinate with project managers, assembly teams, and other shop departments to manage shifting daily job priorities
  • Partner with cross-functional work centers to troubleshoot machining challenges and refine component subassembly integration
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the CNC routing department to elevate quality and production capacity

About You

  • Possess proven hands-on experience programming and operating 3-axis CNC wood routers and point-to-point equipment
  • Demonstrate proficiency with AlphaCAM, or strong experience in MasterCAM / Cabinet Vision with an eagerness to cross-train on AlphaCAM
  • Exhibit strong expertise interpreting SolidWorks models, technical drawings, and architectural millwork blueprints
  • Demonstrate high autonomy and disciplined self-starter capability to manage a specialized machining department independently
  • Maintain high precision measurement skills and rigorous attention to detail on complex, higher-end wood products
  • Possess strong leadership and communication skills to effectively guide shop floor operators and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrate adaptability to manage shifting production schedules and a willingness to perform regular overtime as required
  • Maintain alignment with core shop values focused on quality craftsmanship, personal accountability, and continuous process improvement

Next Steps
