Job description

Carroll University is hiring for a Grounds Crew Worker - Full-Time, Monday through Friday 6am-2:30pm

As a Grounds Crew Worker, you play a key role in maintaining the beauty, safety, and functionality of our university's outdoor spaces. This position offers the chance to work outdoors year-round, contributing to the care of lawns, landscapes, athletic fields, walkways, and campus features that students, faculty, and visitors rely on every day. Responsibilities:

  • Maintain campus lawns, trees and shrubs
  • Remove snow and ice from stairs, walks and ramps
  • Operate trucks, salt spreaders, tractors and snow blowers
  • Prepare flower beds for growing annuals and bulbs
  • Pick up and remove trash from campus grounds
  • Assist with all moves assigned in and outside of campus buildings
  • Set-up multiple types of sports fields/complexes
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school graduate (diploma/GED) required
  • Knowledge and ability to use hand tools/heavy Equipment
  • Mechanical knowledge preferred

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work out of doors in all types of weather
  • Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of job

Human Relations Skills

  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type.

Other Requirements

  • Has valid motor vehicle license and be insurable under the University's insurance plan preferred
  • Shift worked may be adjusted by your supervisor based on departmental needs
  • Must be available for a mandatory On-Call operation for the winter season
  • Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance theUniversity mission.

  • Employees may be required to report violations of law under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
