The Colson Center exists to equip Christians with the clarity, confidence, and courage they need to live like Christians in this cultural moment. All employees are part of our ministry effort, and each is assigned significant responsibilities to move our mission and vision forward. This description lays out the key ministry areas this position leads and supports.
 
Position Editorial Writer (Specialist)
Location: Colorado Springs (Hybrid) or Remote
Position reports to: Vice President of Content and Communications

MINISTRY POSITION SUMMARY: The Editorial Writer develops compelling editorial content that advances the Colson Center’s mission across digital and print publishing through the creation of Christian worldview formation resources. This role creates clear, persuasive writing that forms audiences in Christian worldview fundamentals and drives engagement while maintaining the organization’s voice, messaging standards, and theological distinctives.

Priority | Key Ministry Responsibilities

Editorial Writing (80%)   
Writes to present core concepts of the Colson Center worldview framework and themes, drawn from the ministry’s foundational resources, in a clear, accessible, and engaging format optimized for digital publishing, print, and various applications across ministry programs. 
Deliverables include articles, newsletters, books, e-books, video teaching series, courses, events, curriculum and discussion guides, essays, and other editorial applications aligned with a critical understanding of audience segmentation and the Colson Center mission, distinctives, voice/tone, and messaging guidelines.
Receives and incorporates internal stakeholder directives, feedback, and revisions through editing processes in an efficient manner.      Stays current on themes covered in major areas of writing assignments
Content Planning + Research (20%)   
Conducts interviews with stakeholders and contributes to strategic content planning in conjunction with product, program, and content teams. 
Monitors trends/influences in digital publishing. Incorporates insights into digital publishing process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal Candidate, Education, Experience, Knowledge, Competencies 
Mission Focus: A passion for spreading Christian worldview through excellence in editorial writing. 
 Education: Bachelor’s degree in biblical/theological studies, Christian thought, history, English, writing, or combination of related degree and experience.
Experience: 5 years in editorial writing or similar work. Role requires the ability to organize tasks and projects and keep colleagues and supervisor informed of the status of tasks and projects.  
Knowledge areas: Christian worldview and related topics; writing for editorial purposes such as articles, essays, e-books, curriculum, discussion guides, video scripting, event content strategy; editing and proofreading.
Computer/Tech Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Able to use modern communication and project management tools (e.g., Teams, Asana; experience not required)
Physical: talking, hearing, seeing, typing 
Travel requirements: 3-4 times per year
Preference given to candidates in the Washington D.C. region
Position Classification: Full-Time Exempt 
Salary Range:                $60,000 - $70,000
