The Royal Caribbean Group's Legal Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Counsel, Technology Transactions reporting to the AVP, Assistant General Counsel.

This position is onsite and based in Miami, Florida.

This position is based in Miami, Florida office and will partner closely with senior executives and stakeholders located across the United States and internationally.

Position Summary:

The Counsel, Technology Transactions is a key legal advisor responsible for delivering strategic guidance and complex contract support to Royal Caribbean Group's Technology and Digital functions across all cruise brands. This role manages high-priority initiatives and provides counsel on technology-driven commercial transactions, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance. The Counsel, Technology Transactions leverages deep expertise and leadership capabilities to influence decision-making, implement best practices, and oversee technology-related legal processes impacting global operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads and negotiates complex commercial transactions and technology agreements, including software development, SaaS, licensing, and enterprise solution contracts.
  • Develops and maintains contract templates, lifecycle processes, and governance frameworks to ensure operational excellence and mitigate legal risks.
  • Advises senior stakeholders on strategic contract terms, compliance risks, evolving regulatory requirements, and alignment with corporate policies.
  • Implements legal process improvement initiatives, including technology adoption (e.g., contract management systems), to enhance efficiency across global operations.
  • Oversees resolution of pre-litigation issues, litigation matters, and post-contract disputes to protect the company's interests and minimize exposure.
  • Provides expert guidance on information security, U.S.-based data protection regulations, indemnity provisions, and contractual limitation-of-liability strategies.
  • Coaches and trains legal and business teams on negotiation best practices, governance policies, and contractual risk management.
  • Manages multiple high-complexity projects and prioritizes cross-functional delivery timelines in fast-paced environments.
  • Serves as a key escalation point for technology-related legal matters, driving business-minded solutions that protect enterprise objectives.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school; membership in the Florida Bar or qualification for Registered In-House Counsel required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience providing legal counsel on technology transactions, intellectual property, and digital ecosystems.
  • Proven experience negotiating enterprise-level agreements and advising on complex contractual risks.Prior exposure in regulated environments and global technology operations strongly preferred.

Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Expertise in technology contracts, lifecycle tools (e.g., Coupa CLM), and risk management strategies.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks governing data privacy, cybersecurity, and e-commerce.
  • Advanced negotiation and drafting skills for high-value, multi-jurisdictional agreements.

Leadership/Behavioral Competencies:

  • Exceptional influencing capabilities with senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
  • Strategic decision-making, prioritization, and ability to lead process improvements across diverse teams.
  • Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal and communication skills for clear, actionable advice.
  • Comfortable operating in dynamic, high-volume environments with competing priorities.
