About the Role


Great Lakes Testing Services is seeking experienced, professional Class A drivers ready to transition their expertise from the road into a vital regulatory and safety role. As a Third-Party CDL Examiner based in Columbus, Ohio, you will be responsible for administering commercial driver's license examinations in strict accordance with the State of Ohio and the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) guidelines.


Your mission is to ensure that every CDL exam administered is fair, consistent, and adheres strictly to safety and state protocols. If you are detail-oriented, passionate about highway safety, and looking for a local role that keeps you home every night, we want to talk to you.


What You Will Do
  • Administer CDL Exams: Conduct comprehensive Class A commercial driver's license testing, evaluating applicants fairly and consistently under the defined guidelines of the State of Ohio and AAMVA.
  • Ensure Fleet Safety: Inspect testing vehicles prior to exams to verify that trucks are in good operating order and fully safe for the road and yard portions of the test.
  • Maintain Compliance & Documentation: Accurately complete, process, and file all required state paperwork, training records, and examination documentation in a timely manner.
  • Promote Professionalism: Maintain a structured, professional, and neutral testing environment, exhibiting patience and clear communication with all exam candidates.
