Job description


Job Title: CDL Independent Driver

Classification: 1099 Contractor

Reports To: Transportation Manager

Position Type: As needed

Work Schedule: varies

Work Location: 100% travel

Pay: per mile,per diem+ expenses

Job Summary: The CDL Independent Contractor transports empty passenger vehicles to clients, both near and far. The CDL driver is responsible for following DOT guidelines while operating the passenger vehicles being delivered to customers across the country. There is no forced dispatch, be your own boss and travel around the country, within the confines of the DOT guidelines and requirements. 

Essential Functions:

  • Determining the details of each delivery. 
  • Ensuring that the bus or van has sufficient fuel at all times. 
  • Informing clients and your dispatch team of potential delays. 
  • Following DOT regulations for breaks.
  • Delivering passenger vehicles to clients on or before each deadline. 
  • Completing, storing, and submitting all necessary documentation. 
  • Paying all pertinent tolls as you drive to and from destinations. 
  • Keeping track of all reasonable expenses and submitting proof thereof to obtain refunds. 
  • Reporting all vehicle-related issues for urgent attention.  
  • Proficient in use of technology including smart phone

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.

Required Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.  
  • Relevant CDL w/ P endorsement
  • Smart phone or device proficiency

As needed to deliver and pick up assignments
