Job description

A postdoctoral training position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Amil Shah in the Department of Cardiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center to study imaging and translational '-omics' risk factors for the development of heart failure. Our laboratory conducts research across several large, NHLBI-funded cardiovascular epidemiology cohorts, including the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study, the Jackson Heart Study, and the Dallas Heart Study. In addition to mentored research projects, the postdoctoral research associate will be expected to present findings at national scientific conferences, prepare and publish manuscripts, pursue additional training or professional development through internal and external courses or workshops, and build grant and proposal writing skills.

Candidates must hold a recent Ph.D., M.D., DrPH, or ScD degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field, or have completed degree requirements by the time of appointment. Candidates should have demonstrated experience conducting quantitative population health research and proficiency in statistical programming (SAS, STATA, or R). Prior research or training experience in cardiology, cardiac imaging, and/or cardiovascular epidemiology, along with a record of peer-reviewed publications and national conference presentations, is strongly preferred. This position will require excellent writing abilities, strong organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
