Job description

MATERIAL HANDLER
SUMMARY
This job entails the classification defined below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs the safe operation of a manual or powered pallet jack, also will be required to operate power lift equipment including specialized (narrow-aisle) equipment including but not limited to Forklifts. Require 6-12 months minimum driving experience.
Stages and stocks all raw materials used in the packaging section, according to packaging schedule and daily schedule.
Returns unused raw materials back to the warehouse.
Performs record-keeping duties including raw materials requisition forms and transfer slips.
Arranges and rotates stock in the warehouse.
Rotates stock from warehouse for candy mix pickers, also occasionally picks candy mixes.
Must be able to accurately and speedily follow written instructions, in English.
May be asked to fill in at the packaging equipment if situation arises and dictates.
Inherent in each position is a general duty to maintain each respective work area in a safe and sanitary condition. The employee may be required to perform other such duties within the scope of their employment as may be assigned. Regular, predictable, full-time attendance is required as an essential function of this position. Wages, hours, and working conditions are outlined in a Collective Bargaining Agreement between Jelly Belly Candy Company and Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers amp; Grainmillers International Union, AFL-CIO, Local #125. Overtime as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement is mandatory. An essential function of this job is a requirement to work all hours scheduled.

No supervisory responsibilities exist in this position.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An equivalency of education could possibly fulfill formal degree requirements.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
