Reports to: Transportation Coordinator Job Title: Driver in Training - Bus Driver Department: Transportation Position Type: Temporary / Training Program Location: Transportation Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Position Summary: We are currently seeking motivated individuals interested in becoming a School Bus Driver through our Driver in Training Program. This is a paid training opportunity designed to prepare candidates for a full-time bus driver position upon successful completion. Trainees will complete 40 hours of driver training, which includes classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel driving, and safety procedures. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to apply for a full-time bus driver position within the district. Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid CDL Permit with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and DOT physical
  • Ability to follow instructions, communicate clearly, and work effectively with students and staff
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
Program Details:
  • 40 hours of paid driver training (classroom & behind-the-wheel)
  • Training includes all required safety and regulatory procedures
  • All training costs are covered by the district
  • Upon successful completion, candidates will be invited to apply for a full-time Bus Driver position
Compensation:
  • Training time is paid
  • Rate of pay during training: $11.50/hr
  • Upon successful completion, trainees are eligible to apply for a full-time Bus Driver position

  • First Aid Kit / Body Fluids Management Kit

Working Conditions: Mental Demands:
  • Stay alert and monitor student behavior and safety needs
