Precision Cleaning Quality Technician
LOCATION: Merritt Island, FL
JOB STATUS: Full-time

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Precision Cleaning Quality Tech for the LASSO II contract.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • High school diploma
  • Four years of experience in quality assurance or inspection of systems and equipment, preferably in the aerospace field.
  • Experience in chemical and material processes, sampling processes, testing and measurement techniques, inspection methodology, reading engineering drawings, use of specifications, standards and precision measurement equipment.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow prescribed procedures for components/job in progress.
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics.
  • Computer literate

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to pass the following KSC-provided physicals:
  • Fuel Handlers

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide quality assurance support to the CRCA project to include:
  • Monitoring hydrostat and disassembly operations, decontamination operations, reassembly of functional components and bubble point tests, reassembly/reinstallation operations on systems, particle counts performed by Clean Room Technicians;
  • Monitoring flow booth and clean room controls (temperature, humidity, pressure, cleanliness, particle contamination), performing hazardous vapor detection as required and reporting out-of-specification conditions;
  • Witness processes performed on flight hardware, hydraulic functional tests and final leak tests;
  • Verify equipment cleanliness during hookup and disassembly of equipment on field cleaning jobs;
  • Verify cleaning operations are in compliance with procedures and verifications;
  • Perform NVR determinations, microscopic determinations, particle counts on samples, Halogen and dewpoint tests, final inspection of components such as tubing, flexhose and piping systems;
  • Perform analyses with use of analytical instrumentation;
  • Perform documentation and reporting of minor discrepancies, daily monitoring and test data with use of computer;
  • Perform hydrocarbon and moisture monitoring with use of analytical meters;
  • Perform inspections in confined spaces and at elevations when required.
  • Review work authorization documents to determine cleaning and testing requirements.
  • Assure cleaning and/or testing fluids and test equipment are within specification for proper use.
  • Visually inspect system/parts/components prior to collecting a sample for validation of cleaning jobs.
  • Assure controls are adequate to maintain cleanliness after sampling.
  • Validate the integrity of components/parts/systems by affixing stamped/dated certification tags and tamper-proof decals to completed items.

  • Close out CDRs/WAs with buy-off.
