To thrive as a Full Time Book Copy Editor, you need excellent command of grammar, punctuation, and style, usually supported by a degree in English, journalism, or a related field. Familiarity with editing tools such as Microsoft Word's Track Changes, style guides like Chicago Manual of Style, and sometimes proofreading software is typically required. Outstanding attention to detail, time management, and strong communication skills help you collaborate with authors and meet tight deadlines. These skills ensure polished, error-free manuscripts that meet publishing standards and enhance readers’ experiences.
